RWJ Hamilton Honored With "Partner in Learning" Award from Mercer County Community College

HAMILTON, NEW JERSEY - Mercer County Community College honored Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Hamilton (RWJ Hamilton) with the Partner in Learning Award at its "Creating the Future" event, held recently at the college's West Windsor campus. Ellen Guarnieri, RWJ Hamilton President and CEO, accepted the award which was presented by Mercer's president, Dr. Patricia C. Donohue.

In notifying the hospital of its award, Anthony (Skip) Cimino, chairman of Mercer's board of trustees, thanked RWJ Hamilton for "its commitment to learning by partnering with Mercer County Community College for the betterment of the community."

"RJW Hamilton is thrilled to partner with Mercer's programs in the health professions, including nursing, medical laboratory technology, radiography and physical therapy," says Guarnieri, "and we look forward to continuing this highly productive and positive relationship."

For many years, RWJ Hamilton has provided clinical experience sites for the college's students in these healthcare-related programs. Each summer, RWJ Hamilton offers paid 10-week externships for nursing students, providing them with invaluable hands-on experience. Many Mercer students currently work at RWJ Hamilton and receive tuition support from the hospital, and many graduates are members of the hospital staff.

During the event, which celebrated the college's many successes and programs, awards were also given to two other special community partners: Ana Berdecia of Thomas Edison State College (Alumni Leader Award) and Cenlar FSB (Corporate Partner Award).
