HAMILTON, NEW JERSEY - Would you like to manage stress, restore emotional balance, fight fatigue, reduce pain or better handle a chronic condition? If so, the Academy of Integrative Therapy at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Hamilton (RWJ Hamilton) has what you need.
Through the Academy's classes, experience the healing power of Reiki, engage in sound therapy, relax through massage, learn to laugh or unlock the secrets of powerful ancient healing techniques.
Integrative Therapy Blends Traditional and Holistic Medicines
Integrative therapy combines the technology and expertise of traditional medicine with the healing wisdom of complementary therapies. This whole-body approach works to enhance and stimulate the body's natural ability to heal, create a state of wellness and foster an improved quality of life.
"Integrative therapy is a philosophy of care that addresses mind, body and spirit," says Pam Jones, RN, BS, HNC, integrative therapy nurse. "This powerful vehicle for healing can lower stress levels, eliminate negative feelings, manage a medical condition and prepare patients for surgery. Our participants report an overall sense of well-being that sustains them in other areas of their lives."
Regularly offered programs include massage, stress management, craniosacral therapy, Jin Shin Jyutsu, Reiki, sound therapy, drumming circle and laughter classes. Throughout the year, physician lectures and workshops led by holistic practitioners explore and de-mystify various health topics, including the latest health and diet fads.
Since October 2001, when RWJ Hamilton introduced the first hospital-based integrative therapy program in Mercer County, we have been providing holistic education classes to the community and healing interventions for our patients. Programs offered through the Academy of Integrative Therapy are selected by an advisory committee and led by RWJ Hamilton physicians, nurses, educators and other holistic practitioners.
