Robert Wood Johnson Healthcare Corp. Hamilton Board of Directors Welcomes Three New Members

Mayor John Bencivengo, Dr. Anthony Scardella and Sherise Ritter Appointed

HAMILTON, NEW JERSEY - Robert Wood Johnson Healthcare Corp. Hamilton Board of Directors recently announced the appointment of three new board members: John F. Bencivengo, Mayor of Hamilton Township; Anthony T. Scardella, MD, acting senior associate dean for clinical affairs, UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and acting president of Robert Wood Johnson University Medical Group; and Sherise Ritter, managing director of The Mercadien Group and principal of Mercadien, P.C. CPAs. The appointees join a board of distinguished civic and community members, chaired by Daniel Graziano.

Bencivengo, elected Mayor in 2008, has resided in Hamilton Township for over 30 years. An entrepreneur and business owner, Bencivengo served as Executive Director, Hamilton Partnership, where he was responsible for many community-based programs including Hamilton Blueprint, Partners Newsletter, Project Champion, Hamilton EXPO and the award-winning BIZ Group concept. As a member of the Mercer County Improvement Authority, Bencivengo was part of the group responsible for the construction of the Mercer County Waterfront Park, the Sovereign Bank Arena and several other public and non-profit projects. He is a member of the Hamilton Area YMCA board, and is an affiliate of the United States Conference of Mayors' Fair Housing and Economic Development Committee, as well as the New Jersey League of Municipalities and the New Jersey Conference of Mayors.

Dr. Scardella, who is certified in internal medicine, pulmonary diseases, and critical care medicine, has been the acting senior associate dean for clinical affairs at UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Brunswick, NJ since 2007, where he is also a professor, specializing in pulmonary and critical care medicine. After graduating from Syracuse University in Syracuse, NY, Dr. Scardella earned his medical degree from SUNY at Syracuse Health Science Center. Dr. Scardella completed both his residency and fellowship at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. He has extensive experience in treating pulmonary disease.

Selected as one of New Jersey's Best 50 Women in Business by NJBIZ in 2006, Ms. Ritter, who holds her CPA, PSA, and CGFM, has a broad base of experience, including expertise in the performance of audits, reviews and compilations of both for- and non-profit organizations. She co-chairs Mercadien's Nonprofit Services Group, which identifies industry trends that can help direct the needs of non-profit clientele. Chair of the Mercer Regional Chamber of Commerce's board of directors, Ms. Ritter is also vice-chair of the RWJ Hamilton Foundation. Her strong commitment to serving the community was recognized in 2007, when she received the New Jersey Society of Association Executives' Points of Light Award.
